Erratic 3-point hitch on Puma 165

I've got a tricky hydraulic issue on my 2012 Puma 165 that just started as we moved into primary tillage.

The 3-point hitch is acting erratic when lifting the chisel plow. The lift operation is sticky and not smooth. Specifically, after quickly dropping and raising the implement, it will momentarily sag a couple of inches and then over-correct back to the set height. Also,, when I use the cab switch for a slow lower, it's jerky, like it’s hunting for the correct flow rate. It does hold its height under load, but the movement control is unreliable.

Oil level is good and the remotes work fine. Filter has about 150 hours. Is this a common sign of a failing draft control sensor on these Pumas, or am I looking at a restriction in the main hitch valve block? Any quick checks before I call the dealer? Thanks!

You could be facing a sticking draft control valve or a faulty position sensor feedback. Check the hydraulic oil condition, contamination can definitely cause valve stiction. Try cycling the hitch rapidly about 10 to 15 times to see if that clears any stuck spools. If the issue still persists, it might be best to consult a dealer for diagnostics on sensor calibration or to look into valve replacement.

Don't forget to check the pressure relief valve for any debris that might have snuck in, and take a good look at the electrical connectors on the position sensors for signs of corrosion. It's also a great idea to test the cab switch in both manual and automatic modes.

Hey, also check the firmware on the hitch controller. Some older versions had problems with how they control the flow. A fast update could fix it.
