How are you running harvest command in soybeans?

My neighbor and I both upgraded to Case IH combines last year and we've been trading ideas on settings during harvest. I run a 9250 with a ST rotor and he runs an 7250 with a D145 head. We're cutting soybeans in Missouri where conditions swing between damp mornings and dry afternoons. I usually go with round bar modules in positions 1 and 2, large wire in 3 and 4 and rotor vanes at mid position. My target ground speed is set at 4.5 mph, rotor loss at 18, sieve sensitivity at 32 and feedrate on medium. For those running soybeans in similar conditions, how do you balance loss sensitivity with tailings load?

Nice setup! My brother in law run a 7250 in southern Illinois and deal with the same wet mornings and dry afternoons. I remember he had trouble with tailings too.

Dropping sieve sensitivity to 28 and moving the rotor vanes back a bit helped a lot. Switched to large wire all around mid-season and that made things smoother.

Lines up with what I've been seeing mid season too. I hadn't tried backing off the vanes yet but I'll give that a shot next pass and see if it eases the tailings. I've been hesitant to push sieve sensitivity higher but your 28 setting gives me something to work from. Are you seeing any rotor loss when the crop dries out in the afternoon? I'll run a few adjustments this weekend and report back if it settles the balance.
