How do you measure and diagnose low hydraulic flow in utility tractors?

After noticing that my loader was feeling sluggish on what seemed like a perfectly healthy tractor, I quickly realized that guessing just wouldn’t cut it. Do you rely on flow meters, timed bucket tests, pressure gauges, or dealer tools to pinpoint low flow issues? I’d love to hear about your techniques and what the readings actually revealed to you.

Ran into this last fall. The loader felt weak, but the pressure seemed okay.
Borrowed a flow meter and found out the pump was the problem when it got warm.
Doing some timed tests with the bucket helped me figure things out before I spent any cash

I had something like this last winter. Everything looked good until I checked the flow when it was working hard. The pressure reading wasn't telling me the truth. Now, I always check the flow first before blaming anything else.

I usually check the pressure and do a timed test. If the numbers look weird, I grab a flow meter. Dealer tools are cool, but you don't always need them.

I've messed up by guessing before. Now I do timed bucket tests first, then check the pressure at different speeds. Flow meters really tell you what's up if you can get your hands on one. Weak pumps can be sneaky on loaders.
