Hello everyone. My maxxum 115 shows codes 18255 almost all the time now and sometimes 18256 as Well as an image that looks like the drivers seat and console
I’d appreciate any ideas as to where to look. What to do about these codes
They obviously block the part of the display needed to program the controls
Thanks in advance

I encountered this a few months back. My console kept showing the seat warning, which also blocked programming. It turned out that the seat switch was dirty and giving false readings. A little cleaning and some adjustments to the connectors did the trick without needing to pull the module.

I faced a similar problem with an older Maxxum last season. Those codes typically point to either the seat sensor or the cab control module. Before jumping to replace the whole module, try reseating the connectors first sometimes, it’s just a loose connection.

Codes 18255 and 18256 often relate to the seat or operator presence system.
Take a look at the wiring under the seat and the console harness.
You’d be surprised sometimes, just reconnecting everything can clear the codes and the display issues.

Ok. Thanks for the info. If I get up off the seat with the Ebrake off the beeping sound comes as a reminder so something in the seat harness is working. As soon as the weather allows I’ll check the seat connection's. do I have to remove anything to get at the console connections ?

I did a bit of quick research, and here’s what I found:

Codes 18255 and 18256 on the Maxxum 115 usually point to issues with the seat switch or the operator presence system.
The seat icon is a clear indicator of this.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:

- Check the seat switch located under the operator's seat, make sure to clean the contacts or test for continuity.
- Look over the wiring harness that connects the seat to the ECU for any damaged or corroded connections.
- If your model has a seat pressure sensor, test it out, it might need replacing.
- After making any repairs, remember to clear the codes using a diagnostic tool or a key sequence (you can find this in the manual).

These codes can block display functions because the system believes there’s no operator present. A common solution is to clean or replace the seat switch. Don’t forget to check your operator manual for code definitions that are specific to your serial number. Case IH dealers can also provide detailed fault data.
