Best plow depth for different soils?

What’s the ideal plow depth for different types of soil? When you’re working with clay, loam, or sandy ground, do you dig deeper for certain crops, or do you tend to keep it shallower to maintain that precious soil structure? I’d love to hear what works best for you!

I generally go for a depth of 6 to 8 inches when working with loam. For clay, I dig a bit deeper to help with compaction, and I keep it shallow on sandy soil to prevent it from drying out. Plus, the crop type is definitely an important factor to consider.

I usually stick to the 6-8 inch range for loam, but I’ve moved toward minimal till lately to save the soil structure. if you go too deep in sandy soil, you're basically just asking for your nutrients to leach away faster when it rains.

I used to believe that deeper was always better, but compaction taught me otherwise.
Now, I adjust my digging depth based on the soil type: shallow for clay, moderate for loam, and light for sand.
As a result, my crops thrive, my fuel lasts longer, and I'm not spending all season fixing ruts.
