have this annoying issue with my case IH 1010 header. in heavy wheat, the crop is bouncing right in the middle of the auger instead of feeding smoothly. I need to cut low, so raising the head isn't an option
I've tried to lams the auger back against the stripper bars, timed fingers to full extension at 3 o'clock, also ground the auger flighting edges sharp so they grab better
Thinking about moving the feederhouse slats closer to the auger fins (currently a 3"gap). any other tricks to stop the bunching?

Last year, I had that exact same problem with grain bouncing all over the place when harvesting late. What I did to fix it was close up the space and move the reel a bit forward to get the wheat leaning into the machine. It wasn’t perfect, but at least it fed through much better after I did that.

try to look into auger flighting extensions. sometimes the gap between the end of the flighting and the center fingers is just too wide for high volume crops
extending the flighting just 2-3 inches further toward the center can help push that material directly into the path of the feederhouse slats rather than letting it pile up in the finger area
