Got a nasty vibration in my case IH 8010 rotor above 750 RPM. I’ve checked for missing elements and dents, found nothing!
anyone ever balanced one of these while it’s still in the machine?
trying to avoid a major teardown if I can

I dealt with that same RPM issue last harvest on our 8010. It turned out the vibrations were caused by some buildup that was throwing things off balance. After a thorough cleaning, it settled down. Not the most elegant fix, but definitely cheaper than a full teardown.

I struggled with that exact problem during wheat season.
Everything looked fine at first glance, but the vibrations told a different story.
We did some balancing with trial weights, which helped a bit, but we ended up doing a partial teardown before it got worse mid-harvest.

I had a similar scare with vibrations a few seasons ago. We tried balancing the machine, but the results were hit or miss. Ultimately, it turned out to be a worn bearing that was starting to fail. It wasn't what I wanted to hear, but I’m glad we caught it early.
