I've got a Case IH Magnum 190, 19-speed powershift, and it won't shift past 12th gear. Even worse, it only shifts with the clutch pressed. I took it to a local tech, but they're stumped with no clue what's wrong. I need help

If it won't shift past 12th and only works with the clutch, I'd check the shift linkage, hydraulic pressures, and maybe the transmission control valves, wish I had more experence

Thanks, that helps narrow it down, I'll check the linkage and see if the hydraulics are giving weak pressure. If it's the control valves, is that something I could rebuild myself?

13th to 19th gears are in a separate range, and your inability to shift into them only means the system isn't getting the right signal or pressure to engage that range. Since it also requires the clutch pedal to shift, the clutch position sensor or a related part of the electrical system that tells the transmission to allow a shift might be faulty.

This is a problem with the electronic control module or a specific solenoid valve. Go look at the diagnostic trouble codes that are stored in the tractor's computer. The codes could point you directly to the source of the issue.

Yeas, you can rebuild the control valves yourself but if you're comfortable tearing into hydraulics, the kits are available with seals and springs. Just make sure you've confirmed pressure is in spec first, good luck
