I have a Case SR220 Skid Steer. Runs well, but once we shut it down the hydraulic brake will not release until it cools. We can let it run and get in and out many times and it will release, But once it is shut off, the brake won't release. Any ideas. It is a 2011

Hi, I don't have the answer to your question, but perhaps one of our new members can share the information you need.

it sounds like you've got a pressure bleed-off issue somewhere in the brake circuit. so when you're running it and getting in and out, the pressure is constantly being managed, but when you shut it down, it's not releasing. since it's a 2011, it's likely a pilot pressure issue in the solenoid valve for the brake.. could be a sticky spool, or maybe a tiny bit of crud in there. i'd start by checking the wiring and connections to that solenoid, then if that's all good, you might have to pull and clean the valve itself.

Thanks for the info. I am not sure where the solenoid valve is ,could you describe it's location or even send a picture?

The issue might be with the hydraulic fluid itself or with a component that's affected by temperature. A lot of skid steers use hydraulic pressure to release the brake, and if the fluid is getting old or contaminated, its properties can change when it gets cold.

Another possibility is that there is an issue with the brake's hydraulic accumulator or a valve. If it is losing its charge, or if a valve is sticking, it may not have enough pressure to release the brake once the machine has been turned off and the hydraulic system has lost its pressure. So you have to have these checked.
