Is 4WD worth the extra bucks?

Planning to upgrade soon and I'm stuck choosing between two models, one is 2WD and the other is 4WD. For those who have gone through this decision do you think 4WD was worth it in the long run?

which model do you have in mind? I always thought that 4WD was the standard. you know, if your work involves loaders, heavy pulling, or challenging ground conditions, 4WD will enhance your productivity and prove a valuable asset over many years.
If you only perform light work on flat, dry land, a 2WD model might suffice and be more economical
