I’m looking at a 1967 Case 530CK for my hobby farm. It’s got a freshly rebuilt diesel and a new radiator, but it’s definitely a project. the backhoe and loader cylinders all need new seals, and one outrigger is shot.
The seller is asking $5k, for me it feels affordable, but I’m coming from smaller tractors like the Farmall Cub and I’m a bit worried about Case backhoe parts availability

is this machine still easy to support, or am I buying a headache?
also, how does it compare to a JD 3020 for drawbar work, or should I keep it strictly for digging?
I’d love some advice on whether $5k is a fair price for a vintage Case 530 in this condition?

honestly, I’d pass on this one just because it's 2WD. seals are easy enough to track down, but finding a replacement hydraulic pump for an older unit like this can be a total nightmare
my advice is that before you pull the trigger, give your local Case dealer a shout to see if they can even still get parts
also, keep in mind there’s no drawbar, if you’re planning to drop the hoe and use it as a tractor, it might be more trouble than it’s worth

yeah, at $5k, the price is fair for the current market, but only if you're prepared for the potential headache

I think $5K could be a reasonable price if you're up for dealing with the seals and outrigger. Finding parts for older Case models can be a bit of a treasure hunt, but there are plenty of aftermarket options out there. If you enjoy taking on projects, it can be more fun than frustrating

Finding old Case parts isn't impossible, just sometimes takes a bit of time, usually used or aftermarket parts can fill in the gaps.
For a hobby farm and digging, that 530CK has a lot of character.
Just keep in mind it won't be as convenient as a JD 3020 for everyday chores.
