In my family, mashed potatoes were a serious matter during Thanksgiving my Grandma staunchly defended her authentic lumps while my uncle would act like it was a personal attack if they weren’t smooth enough to ice a cake. It was like a yearly showdown at the dinner table!

I’m all about those lumps my mom always left them in and honestly it just feels more homemade to me.
 
I prefer a smooth texture all the way ever since I helped my aunt whip them up with extra butter I’ve been sticking to that.
