Magnum 305 dash goes dark

There's something I noticed on my Case IH Magnum 305, the dash suddenly goes dark while I'm working, this happens when using the 3-point hitch. Lights blink, and the PTO won't start unless we shut it off and turn it back on. We changed the battery, checked the wiring, and even put in a new alternator. Still acting up. Anyone seen this before? Thanks for any help!

Hey there! It sounds like you're dealing with a voltage drop when things are under load. I recommend checking your ground connections, especially around those hitch controls, sometimes it's just a loose wire causing all the trouble. Oh, and don't forget to take a look at the cab power relay too, it could be part of the problem. Good luck!

Also check the ground straps between the frame and cab. make sure to clean all contact points, and inspect the harness near the hitch controls for pinched or chafed wires that could short under movement.

Make sure to check the load-sensing circuit and CAN bus plugs, as flaky issues there can cause electrical problems, especially when the hydraulics kick in. Also, run a scan to catch any temporary errors that didn't stick around long enough to become a code.
