Need help with hitch wiring

My dad and I are setting up our 3430 Case IH air cart with a 2018 Piller laser disc drill out here in central Nebraska. We're running it as a tow behind and there's one duetch connector at the end of the hitch that links up with the ISOBUS cord further down. We're scratching our heads, wondering if that little plug is meant for the drill's work switch. The manual isn't super clear and we'd rather not guess and fry something. Has anyone run this combo and know for sure?

That sounds like a good setup! The Deutsch connector at the end of the hitch is indeed for the work switch. The P-500 laser drill is set up to use that plug on the 3430 cart. Just plug it in and you'll be good to go. The work switch will send a signal to the monitor when the drill is lowered, so it knows when to start and stop your population and rate control. It's also better you secure a wiring diagram for the drill just to be 100% sure.

Thanks for the help! I'm in LA and helping a friend set up his P-500 on a 3430 cart. We plugged in the connector and it looks good, but not sure if the monitor needs adjusting. Do you know if it needs to be set up after plugging in? Also, any tips on where to find a wiring diagram?

The DIN plug at the hitch's end is probably meant for the drill's work switch. This is a typical configuration that allows you to control the drill's functions right from the tractor. It's a good idea to double-check your manuals or reach out to a dealer to make sure the wiring is done correctly and to steer clear of any possible problems.

I'll check the source setting and reach out to the dealer midweek if the plug still doesn't match up. If wiring checks out, we should be ready to run by early next week. Did you have to modify the pinout or was it factory-aligned with the drill?

Ran into the same headache with a 3330 cart and a Bourgault drill. The plug looked like a work switch, but it was actually for a secondary sensor. Best bet is call the dealer or snag the wiring schematic. Case wiring can be weird depending on the year.

I had the same issue last spring with a 3430 and a Bourgault drill. There was a plug at the hitch we weren't sure about, it ended up being for the work switch like what everyone says here. It only worked after we made sure the ISOBUS was set up right on the tractor screen. Does your drill show up on the monitor? Also, does the Piller have its own switch wires, or does it use the cart's? That changed how ours worked.

Great point from @glitched78 about whether the work switch signal comes from the 3430 cart or the Piller drill itself. I'm curious to hear what the final solution was for your setup.
