Got a Case IH 1440 sitting here, 6-row corn head, 15' grain head, serial number 1680188UO2882, showing 4,015 hours. I'm looking to get out of grain, but I'm not sure if this machine is worth enough to make selling it worthwhile. What year does that serial put it at, and what's the honest value in 2025? I know these old 1440s don't bring huge money, but is it a $10k machine, a $5k machine, or less? Curious what others have actually seen them move for? not just dream prices.

That's most likely from the 1980 model year. These older combines can be a challenge to price, but based on current market trends for similar vintage equipment, a 1440 with those hours and included heads would typically fall in the $5,000 to $8,000 range. But then again, the value is highly dependent on its mechanical condition, recent maintenance records, and overall cosmetic appearance. Prices also vary significantly by region and buyer demand. Are you looking at selling yours?

That serial puts it around 1980–81. With 4,000 hours and both heads, you're realistically looking at $5k–$10k depending on condition. Closer to 5 if it needs work, closer to 10 if it's field ready. They don't usually bring more than that in today's market
