As winter takes hold, you’ve likely experienced those frosty mornings when your tractor is reluctant to start. With options like block heaters, glow plugs, and timers, everyone has their own routine. What are your tried-and-true methods for preheating your tractor to ensure it starts smoothly in the bitter cold?

I set my block heater on a timer for three hours before I head to work. Got that tip from my dad. My old Magnum fires up easily, even when it’s 10 below. Plus, I keep a trickle charger on the battery.

I've got a setup for my Farmall that works great I use a block heater connected to a WiFi outlet, so I can turn it on from my phone a few hours before I need it. I also check that the glow plugs are cycling right. Plus, I switched to 5W40 synthetic oil for winter. It starts like it’s summertime now.

I plug in my block heater overnight it’s my lifesaver. I used to depend on the glow plugs in my 7120, but after a rough January last year where I struggled to start it, I installed a magnetic block heater. Now it starts up on the first try, every time.

pretty much the same, I use a block heater.
one little tip for alternative heat, is to safely use a heat lamp near the engine block, make sure it doesn't touch rubber or flammable parts
