My Case IH 3-point hitch has been really sluggish lately, almost like it’s in need of a caffeine boost.
I’m starting to think it might be the hydraulic lines, the filter, or the control valve that’s causing the issue.

What’s your go-to method for pinpointing the problem before you start swapping out parts?

First, I’d look at the hydraulic filter and lines for any leaks or clogs. If I don’t see anything obvious, I'll move on to checking the pressure settings on the control valve. That usually gives me a good clue.

I always check the filter first since clogged ones can be tricky. If it looks clear, I’ll cycle the hitch while keeping an eye on the pressure to see if the control valve is sticking or if there’s air in the system.

I start by inspecting the filter and lines for any blockages or leaks. Then, I’ll run the hitch and check the pressure at the control valve. If the pressure's low, it often points to a problem with the valve or pump. If everything seems fine, then I’ll need to dig a bit deeper.
