Biggest issue I’ve seen is fuel system gunk on the older Tier 4 engines. They’re picky about clean diesel. A shot of fuel conditioner every few fills helps a lot. I also swapped to a better fuel filter brand like it made cold starts smoother and cut down on smoke.
