You’ve got fluid moving, pressure building, and no time to pause the machine.
What are your quickest tips for checking hydraulic filter restrictions on the go?
Share those speedy techniques that help avoid headaches and save hours of downtime.

Learned this when a loader suddenly ground to a halt in the middle of a job. Now, I make it a point to monitor the restriction light, feel the filter housing for warmth, and keep an eye on the pressure drop on the gauge. It only takes a few seconds, but it saves me plenty of time and keeps me from being stuck working on repairs

After I faced an unexpected shutdown while working, I became diligent about doing quick checks. I quickly scan the restriction indicator, monitor the pressure at idle, and listen for any strange sounds from the pump. If it sounds off, there’s likely a clog somewhere

One muddy morning showed me just how much of a hassle filters can be. Now, I give the housing a light tap, watch the dash light, and observe any pressure changes when I rev the engine. If it jumps, I know it’s time to act. These quick checks take no tools, and I can get back to work within minutes.
