Found a used Case IH Magnum for a sweet price. I need a tractor for row crops. Is the Magnum series actually a good fit for this work, and what are the absolute top 3 must check items (engine/trans/hydraulics) that are known problems before I write the check? need a pro's advice!

Magnums work great for row crops because they have good power and you can see well. When you're thinking of buying one, make sure you look at the PTO clutch for wear, check the hydraulic pump pressure, and see if there are any problems with how the transmission is set up

Hey, also, take a look at the front axle and steering for any looseness. Magnums sometimes have software or sensor problems that can mess with how well they work in the field, so give those a quick check too.
